Sponsor Spotlight: Tokokoo

TokokooTokokoo is an Indonesia-based premium WordPress e-Commerce theme provider and one of our bronze sponsors. The have been very generous in offering 10 of their Premium themes as prizes at WordCamp.

Tell us a bit about your business. How do you use WordPress?

Tokokoo provides free and premium WordPress ecommerce themes. So, WordPress is the core of our business. In less than two years since our first theme release, we have joined partnership with many reputable websites like Onextrapixel, Dynamic WP, etc. We also have became trusted themes provider for WpWebHost and Getshopped. To know more about our move, read “Around The Webs” in our blog.

Actually, we weren’t targeting anything like “WordPress ecommerce themes provider” tagline. We started to use WordPress as blogging platform, just like everyone else. Then, several client projects came. I think they love our work and design that they keep coming over and over again. Next, the idea of creating a one stop ecommerce solution comes off. That was the time when Tokokoo was born.

Why WordPress?

Because WordPress is easy to maintain, has a big community that gives great support, a bunch of tutorials making learning easy, keeps growing, and has adequate security.

Why did you decide to get involved and sponsor WordCamp Cape Town 2011?

It’s because we love WordPress as much as you guys do. Without WordPress, this – Tokokoo WordPress e-Commerce themes provider – would never exist. So, through this WordCamp Cape Town 2011 sponsorship, we hope we can give back a little to the WordPress community, especially in WordPress e-Commerce. Today, there’s not many themes providers who specialize in WordPress e-Commerce.

What are your thoughts on the WordPress community as a whole? And the South African WP community?

Today the WordPress community seems to be very solid. Even the smallest example can show how solid it is. We can see this on online forums that discuss (and sometimes debates) about WordPress, like those related to some GPL or copyright issues in www.wpcandy.com. How everyone cares to share their opinion reflects their attention to WordPress. From the technology sector, all communities give their best in the form of themes design, framework, plugins, SEO, etc. I think that’s what has made WordPress become even more powerful, leaving Joomla/Drupal behind.

What are you most looking forward to at WordCamp Cape Town?

You, him, her, them! 🙂

Who in the WordPress community inspires you? Who do you follow?

Ryan Imel from WPCandy.com, Collis Ta’eed CEO of Envato.com, Adii Pienaar the founder of WooThemes.com.

What is the most exciting improvement to WordPress that you have noticed in the last year?

All new features at WordPress 3.0, new design in admin section at WP 3.2, and the last is default theme Twenty Eleven.

Where do you see WordPress 2 years from now?

WordPress will be the platform of various website purposes: blogging, big company business, portfolio, online stores… anything. And if today there are 25 million sites that use WordPress, let’s imagine that in 2 years ahead there will be, like, billion sites. Bingo.

I definitely agree with you on the fact that WordPress is easy to maintain. It’s my preferred blogging platform hands down. I’ve experienced just about every blogging platform out there in one way or another and I have to see that I would ever use anything else.
