Lessons in online publishing from Fred Roed

These days it is very hard to keep up with the deluge of new social media offerings. What’s the next big thing and how are online publishers meant to keep up.

In his discussion, “What a 60’s Rock n’ Roll Band Can Teach Us About Online Publishing”, Fred Roed highlighted the value of social media and the benefits of its community status. If publishers are creative in their cause and they offer content freely, this will almost always be enough to generate online conversation. Maybe then, publishers can focus on the technologies already working for them.

Fred highlights the value of:

  • Unique idiosyncrasies
  • Influential ambassadors
  • Free content, even if you are a e-Commerce venture
  • Having a cause
  • Stimulating conversation creatively
  • Content syndication

Thank you Fred, I enjoyed the session.
