MC Interview: Jonathan Duguid

WordCamp MC jonathan duguidWe are happy to announce Jonathan Duguid (@theDramaKing on Twitter) as the MC on the Publisher’s track. Jonathan will be keeping us entertained, assure that we don’t take ourselves too seriously and remember to have lots of fun between geeking out at this year’s WordCamp.

Tell us a bit about yourself

Well, where do I begin? I like to think of myself as being highly talented -but then, who am I kidding? I am an entrepeneur, starting my own publicity and social media management company, I am an actor, MC, theatre-maker and radio personality, a brand manager and blogger, and all-round busy guy (i.e. I have no life). I am at times a dumb strawberry-blonde.

Why did you decide to become an MC at WordCamp Cape Town?

Coz For the free ticket! – just jokes. I guess it’s because I have a passion for both the online world (especially WordPress -as I blog on the platform), as well as to entertain. There’s nothing worse than being at a conference and not having some sort of light entertainment between talks to prevent you from slitting your wrists.

What are you most looking forward to at WordCamp Cape Town?

Learning a little more about the WordPress platform, and also, hopefully bringing a smile to a few people’s dials throughout the day.

What is your favourite WordPress theme and/or plugin, and why?

Well, I’m not going to lie; I’m a cheapskate, so I use wordpress.com for my blog. The theme I’ve got (Duster -by Automattic) is pretty awesome as one can change the appearance of the site as much as one wants, without being too restricted.

Share one WP tip

Woah! I’m not exactly a techy expert, so I’m just going to be random and general: Use good SEO… (I hope that’s okay?)

Who in the WordPress community inspires you? Who do yo u follow?

People? In terms of theme peeps, the Obox crew are cool. Bloggers/websites who use WordPress, I’d say 10and5.com, uctradio.co.za, robynhobson.com, reviewme.co.za -but I’m more gripped by their articles more than anything else.
